The Georgia Steel Guitar Association was founded in late 2003 with the following mission statement:
To bring steel guitar enthusiasts together for the purposes of interaction, promotion and recognition of the steel guitar's integral contribution to Georgia's music development past, present and future.
The Association is based in Georgia, and the roster includes members from Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
